I have lost 4 lbs in 4 days (yippee!) but I want to make sure I am doing this right. I can't afford to buy the book so I have been doing it on bits and pieces I can gather up from others. Some of these things I am mixing together to make my own recipes.... but this is basically what I have been eating or plan on eating for the next 10 days: Eggs Canadian Bacon Lettuce Tomatoes Cucumbers Green Peppers Celery Spinach Fat free or reduced fat cheeses fat free cream cheese (on the celery - yum!) fat free sour cream skim milk olives clausen pickles (the ones that have to stay in the fridge) natural peanut butter (just peanuts and salt in it) lean ground beef very little bit of mixed nuts mayo pork tenderloin onions Also, any other ideas??? Open Question: South Beach Diet - Phase 1 Breakfasts?
I have just started the South Beach Diet and am on phase one. I am struggling to find breakfast recipes that do not contain eggs in some form. I don't want to be eating omelettes, frittatas, scrambled, boiled, fried eggs etc every day. Does anyone have any suggestions for recipes that don't involve egg in anyway that I can eat for breakfast?

Voting Question: Books for SUPER-LAZY cooks?
I need to lose some fat, but I HATE to cook!!! Really hate it! I can handle spaghetti and scrambled eggs, but anything more complicated and I won't do it. I just won't. That's how lazy I am. That said, are there any diet cookbooks geared for extremely lazy "cooks"? Exercise and cardio are not the problem--I already walk/jog 45 min/3 days per week--not because I like it (I don't!) but because I know there's absolutely no way around it. But there's gotta be some healthy, filling, diet recipes out there that don't require more than 10 ingredients, or more than 30 minutes in the kitchen, tops, right? I need a how-to book saying exactly what to eat and when, with recipes--like the South Beach Diet, only MUCH less varied & complicated. Please help! p.s. I know that black beans & brown rice (healthy although gassy), plain scrambled eggs, leafy greens, salad with vinaigrette, plain tuna, and lean grilled chicken breast (touching raw chicken--yuck!), are all healthy and pretty non-fattening, even in large quantities, except for the rice. But those are all the "recipes" I know. I wish there was a book full of diet recipes of that simplicity level. Maybe there is? I just saw the "A man, a can, and a plan" entry--hilarious! I had no idea guys got that book when going to college. However, canned goods use so much sugar and salt that it might not be a really good diet plan. Thanks, though! I might try it anyway...

Voting Question: I Need Some Help With Weight Loss?
i'm currently 15 years old, almost 16. 5'1'', and about 150 pounds. my bmi 28.3, meaning that i'm overweight (obviously). i'd like to get down to a healthy weight of around 115-120...and if at all possible, i'd like to lose most, if not all, of this weight by Christmas when i'm getting together with my entire family. but how should i go about losing this weight? i've heard a lot about the south beach diet. a lot of people in my family tried it and had amazing results. the book says that you lose about 14 pounds in the first 2 weeks. if i stay on phase one a little longer, will i still lose a pound/day? people have told me to start with a cleansing diet before i go into an actual "diet". what are some good cleansing diets out there? preferably one that only last a day or two. what should i do about exercise? i have access to a treadmill, elliptical, bike, stair climber-ish thing, bowflex and free weights. where do i start?? any other weight loss tips are greatly appreciated!! also, if anyone has some good recipes for South Beach Phase 1, please send them to me. =] you are loved.

Im trying to eat more healthy. So far my diet consists of fat free milk, water, bran cereal, dry roasted peanuts, bananas,whey protein shakes, green olives, tuna, chicken thighs in marinade, and south beach diet wraps that I stuff with sliced turkey and cottage cheese. I plan to eat basically this for at least a month until I slim down, but I realized I need vegetables. I have tons of bags of mixed veggies, but they always taste like crap when I cook them. I know vegetables can be made to be delicious cause my mom makes them great. Any HEALTHY but TASTY recipes for veggies? Spices, marinades, etc.?

Thanks for asking:-) The only thing I've done differently is having a 4 oz. glass of wine in the evenings (love my wine)! I'm not looking for another diet plan like Adkins or South Beach; if I read another one of those I'm going to loose it. I can monitor my own eating habits, but I just don't know what to cook. I've been looking for a cook book that contains recipes for normal foods (stuff that I've eaten before and doesn't contain items I've never heard of or would send me to a specialty food store) prepared well that I can cook for myself that also has the approximate serving size and nutritional information about the foods, but I haven't found anything. okay, i'm 15 years old, 5'1'' and about 150 pounds. according to my BMI and my doctor, i'm overweight and at risk for developing diseases like diabetes. i'd really like to get down to between 105-115 pounds. and if at all possible, i'd like to lose this weight by february...or earlier. i've heard a lot about the south beach diet and how its good for regulating blood sugar and how some people lose like a pound a day on phase 1. *does it really work this well? *if so, what are some good south beach recipes? i know exercise is a big factor when it comes to weight loss. i've always wanted to start...but i just don't know where to begin. i have access to a treadmill, elliptical, stair-climber-ish thing, bowflex, and free weight. i also have a good neighborhood for biking/walking (its about 1 mile all the way around). *what should i do to get the most out of my workout? *what exercises will burn the most calories? *what can i do to help tone my entire body? finally, if i go on south beach, its gonna be hard to get fiber since i can't have bread or anything. i saw these fiber supplements at cvs called Fiber Choice Weight Management. *will they help? *do they have any harmful effects that i should know about? any other weight loss tips will be greatly appreciated! just, please no crazy starvation diets or expensive diet pills. i'm 15! thanks in advance!

Like, South Beach, Atkins, etc. Something that worked really well for you. I just need to loose like 10 lbs (yeah, so that I can just gain it all back during the holidays. J/K). I am totally willing to exercise, too. So that's not out of the question either. And I really like to cook, so a diet with recipes is good :) Healthy eating and exercise? Weird, I had no idea that would be the answer.... *sarcasm* I'm okay with dietary supplements, and pills and stuff (yeah, like crack and meth are okay too. TOTALLY KIDDING). If you have any that worked, let me know! And unfortunately my metabolism is plumeting. So, just eating whatever I want and not ever excercising is no longer the answer. It used to be great. I think once you get married you automatically gain 10 lbs. when my husband went to Iraq I lost like 10lbs. I was grossly skinny. but, I gained like 20 back, mostly in my bra....

Where can I find GOOD recipes? I am supposed to be on phase 1. I have seen those recipes and YIKES! They look so gross! I think I may go on the trim advantage diet instead! I don't "stuff" myself. i'm 20-30 pounds overweight. and that's according to my doctor, not just according to me. i'ld like to lose this weight by homecoming, so i can get a dress that shows off my new body. how should i go about losing this weight? south beach diet claims that you can lose up to 14 pounds in 2 weeks on phase one. if i just stayed on phase one until homecoming, which is about a month away, could i lose all that weight? what are some good south beach recipes? also, what are some good snacks. i usually snack on fruit or something, but you can't have that during phase 1...so i need some other options. i have access to a treadmill, stair climber-ish thing, elliptical, bowflex, and some hand weights (3 lbs and 6 lbs i think). i also have a good neighborhood for bike riding. what kinds of exercises should i do? i have all this equipment and I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START! what are some exercises i can do to tone my butt/thighs? will crunches help tone my stomach? how many should i do each day? how can i get rid of the flab under my arm? it really grosses me out. i hate it! are there any supplements that i should be taking? like, any vitamins that i might not get enough of on south beach? or anything that will help me lose more weight, faster? nothing TOO expensive please, and something that can be found at like cvs/walgreens would be great!! thanks in advance!!

Today is day 4. I have been following the suggested menus and cooking their recipes to the T. I have only lost .6 pds in 3 days. On top of that I feel bloated and my stomach hurts..I have also been walking about 30 to 45 mn daily. Why so LITTLE weight loss ? The diet promises up to 10 lbs in phase one. I have been scouring the internet for a low carb veggie meal that doesn't have ANY pasta, rice, or wheat products. I'm at my wits end. I have a dinner guest coming on wednesday that is vegetarian (no fish either) - I am just starting on the south beach diet which requires an entire purging of carbs for two weeks. I need a filling main course we can both eat. I already have an appetizer and side dishes. Hi, I am seventeen years old and I am looking to lose some weight. I will not be taking any diet pills. I am about 140 pounds, which is not good as I am also under five feet. I'm not athletic, but I do use the weight room at school and use a treadmill and weights at home for about a half-hour to an hour each day, every day. I have recently started, as of last night, =) the South Beach diet. I have a book and am excited to use it. My mom is going grocery shopping tomorrow, and I'd like some ideas for eating. The problem is, I can often be quite picky. Snacks are great, I don't know how those bars are, I'm still in "Phase One", but I love string cheese. Lunch is the problem. I'm not a fan of salads, and mushrooms are absolutely out of the question. So I'm really looking for some healthy, South Beach recipes that I can eat and lose weight with. Thanks for the help! And if you have any exercises that combat the obliques and belly area, those would be great, too. Jess

PLEASE NO MEAN COMMENTS. PLEASE. I am 18 and i was always like 130-139 weight. then my life got shaken up. then my doctor was trying different anti-depressant pills, and like anti anxiety pills on me to see what worked. the side ffectson most of the onesi tried was weight gain. i started gaining more and more extremely fast. i actually gained about 60 lbs. it wasn't gradual at all. it was probably in a matter of 3-4 months. it was awful. now i am trying to lose the weight. i started the 6 week body makeover, and it is so restrictive. every day for every meal it's always the same. i have been making dinners out of the recipe book, but they are so awful. my dad thinks it is way to restrictive for someone as young as me. like no dairy. he is suggesting south beach or atkins. i dont know what to do. what drew me to 6 week was the 30lbs loss in 6 weeks. i need something likethat cause i am so tired of being overweight, but i need something not so bland. more exciting. i need help! what diet do you reccomend and why? thank you so much.

ASIDE from the official website. I can't afford to pay $60 for access. Now If I could pay weekly, that would be a different story! :-) I just bought the cookbook and I am a bit disappointed that it didn't include SBD safe versions of Lasagna and Pizza??!! in phase 1 are you suppose to go by what it says to do days 1 - 14 or can do as you wish as long as your going by the list of foods you can have or use the phase 1 recipes ? I have noticed in some recipes it calls for some foods that are not on the list like alvacado. thanks in advance.

ok, this is a SOUTH BEACH DIET greek SALAD recipe. i don't understan why it has SO MANY cals in one serving (501 cals). it's a salad! where are all the cals coming from?? could it be the feta cheese. help! (i thought a salad would have 200 cals.. 300 max!) 8 leaves romaine lettuce, torn into bite size pieces 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, and sliced 1 tomato chopped 1/2 cup sliced red onion 1/2 cup crumbled reduced fat feta cheese 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves 1/2 teaspoon of salt Serves 1 Nutritional Value Per Serving: 501 calories, 22g protein, 25g carbs, 38g fat, 10g saturated fats, 2300mg sodium, 30mg cholesterol, 6g fiber. We're on the South Beach Diet and loving it! However, my hubby has to take a lunch every day and I'm finding it very difficult to come up with something other than salad and lettuce wraps. Anybody have any ideas or recipes that would keep him satisfied? His work is very physical at times, so he needs the fuel at lunch time! Although we've done the 2 weeks for the phase 1- he still needs to lose weight - and quickly due to health reasons, so we're trying to stay as close to the phase 1 foods as we can.

I used to have the most wonderful recipe for South Beach Diet (phase one friendly) stuffed peppers. The page that I found it one used to be bookmarked, but my computer crashed and I can't find it at all now. I remember when I had originally found it, I had searched on google "South Beach Diet Phase one recipes" and the page that listed the peppers was near the top. I have searched the same thing again, but I can't find the recipe that I am looking for. If you know of one that has the below ingredients, or sounds similar, please let me know. Ingredients that it has: Crushed pork rinds to coat the peppers several types of cheeses Bacon The website also gives a quick tutorial on how to seed peppers Ingredients that it does NOT have: Chicken Lasagna, It is NOT the recipe from Kalyn's Kitchen or the lasagna stuffed peppers. Resolved Question: South Beach Diet vs Atkins - which is best for diabetic person?
I have been doing Atkins for years and eating low carb. I now find it hard to stick to it. I realize "now" that I am eating tons of fat, butter, sour cream and heavy whipping cream for my coffee. I have lost thirty pounds, but maybe not due to Atkins, but because I am taking a pill for diabetes that helped me lose weight. I was reading about the South Beach Diet and it is similar to Arkins only we cannot eat all the fat. This is a harder diet to do because I would have to make certain meals where with Atkins it was just meat, fish, eggs, cheese and broccoli and asparagus .. and salad. I do not want to make a lot of recipes with the South Beach Diet - it just seems to hard to do. I do not thoroughly understand why I can eat a lot of whole grains on a diet "when" they contain carbs. If I eat normal carbs I gain weight immediately. Whole grains slow down the GL, but I still don't get it. I need to start a diet today and not sure which is best. Need to lose 40 pounds.

Are there any healthy/quick recipes? Are there any cook books that I should use? Are there any websites that can help? I do not want to try any of the "south beach" "atkins" diets that require you to make radical changes.

nothing white, no sugar, limited salt. I am losing weight, and I know this is a healthy way to do it. I am so sick of eating fish, chick. breast, salad, veggies, skim milk. fruits all the time. I've been reading about south beach diet and got very curious bout it. I want to try it, i love eating but I need to loose 15 pounds on my weight. Can somebody teach me a 2 week diet plan with easy to cook and easy to find ingredients(preferably those in Philippines) I am not good in cooking thats why I don't know some of the ingredients of most recipe being discuss here.
