News and Questions About alkaline foods
Open Question: Do certain foods keep your PH level balanced? Can high/low PH levels be the cause of UTI?
I keep reading stories of women who have reoccurring UTI. I am currently dealing with this problem. I was wondering if :
#1: Probiotics will help because I just ordered some
#2: If drinking alkaline water (Kangen water) will help my PH levels which will help this problem?
Note: I am not sexually active so it's nothing along those lines as I've stated in my previous question.
Open Question: Best alkaline foods for gastritis?
Ended up with a lovely dose of Gastritis yesterday.. Most pain I've ever felt in my life... Although I'm ok now with my prescription of Omeprazole, I still have a delicate stomach and can't have acidy stuff for a while. Can anyone suggest alkaliney things I can have? (Other than the obvious, milk).. Thanks guys!
Open Question: What kind of foods can I eat during a alkaline diet?
Open Question: Please help me with this?
I am very nervous around the guys in my house. I think they are nice people overall but I am not sure if they dislike me. I have, on numerous occasions suspected of them being out to get me (by saying something nasty or making fun of me).
I have been here for a day, just studying and not coming out of my room. But I heard them playing "Alkaline Trio - Dead End Road" and I think they were playing that in spite of me. I look extremely young and it lyrics repeat "you were only 8 years old". The song possesses a melencholy theme, reflecting my depression.
So anyway, I was going out to get food (because I am starving) and someone threw out a drink, landing right beside me. It just about missed me and when I looked up they were gone. When I came back I asked someone about it. They just said "Ady always throws things out his window" and Ady talked to me like we are best pals.
So, I am wondering if I am schizo for getting paranoid about an innocent mistake, or if I am crazy for believeing them.
Open Question: What are the chances that my housemates were maliciously out to get me? Please Help :)?
This is long but please read it because it would really help me. Your good deed for the day...

Resolved Question: Is this an acid or alkaline food?
A friend has just told me that her rheumatologist said to her that apricots are the worst thing for Arthritis because it is an acid food...is this true?
I have always thought they were alkaline.
Who's right and who is wrong?!?!?
Voting Question: What foods should I eat to lessen the acidity of blood?
I just read an article on the pH of blood. Yes it doesn't change much but it can veer towards acidic or alkaline. An acidic diet corrodes and eats away at muscle I am wondering, what foods can I eat to make my blood pH lean more towards alkaline side?
Resolved Question: Please help are canned beans and spaghetti hoops?

Question: Can A Plant Survive Being Watered by Greywater?
Variables:
*independent: Greywater
*dependent: The plant's survival.
Hypothesis: If greywater is used to water a plant then the plant will die.
[BUT If greywater is said to be somehow good for the plants, then maybe the plant will grow.]
Background Research:
What is greywater?
What does it contain?
What are its said effects?
Are detergents alkaline or acidic?
Report:
Related Experiments on Greywater and Plant Growth:
"Greg Cloud was interested in exploring ways to reduce water usage, and decided to try an experiment with greywater and plants for his science fair project. He designed a well-controlled experiment to test whether or not greywater would damage plants. Half of the plants in his study were watered with greywater, and the other half with normal tap water. He made daily observations and measurements to assess the health of the plants in both groups. Greg's project brought him all the way to the 2007 California State Science Fair, where he won a Science Buddies Clever Scientist award."

Myca T. also did an experiment on greywater effect. She research about the effect of Potable vs. Gray Water on Radish Growth.
Greywater
"Greywater, also known as sullage, is non-industrial wastewater generated from domestic processes such as dish washing, laundry and bathing.Greywater comprises wastewater generated from all of the house's sanitation equipment except for the toilets (water from toilets being blackwater). Greywater is distinct from blackwater in the amount and composition of its chemical and biological contaminants (from feces or toxic chemicals)."
Information of Some People's Use of Greywater:
"In arid communities with annual water shortages, such as California, Florida and the Southwest, gray water systems have been in use since the 1980s.
There are still some parts of the country where using gray water is actually illegal. The main concern is the potential for adverse health effects. Gray water can contain harmful microorganisms, which is why gardeners should follow some common-sense practices, such as not using it on plants that will be eaten."

Said Benefits:
Using grey water can lessen your fresh water(white water from groundwater or potable water)use and bills because you are now using something other than tapwater for watering your plants."And because the wastewater you're using on your garden isn't getting pumped back to the city's wastewater treatment system, you're also saving energy".

Is Detergent and Soap Alkaline or Acid?:
Research:
Detergents
A detergent is a substance that cleans a soiled surface. Soap is a type of detergent. Detergents are produced as bars, flakes, grains, liquids and tablets. People use detergents to wash dishes, laundry, floors, windows and other household items. Doctors even use detergents to kill germs. These cleaners contain a basic cleaning agent called surfactants or surface-active agent. Surfactants attach themselves to dirty particles then pull out dirty particles and store them until the soap and dirty particles are washed away. Most detergents contain a man-made product plus other chemicals. These other chemicals may improve cleaning ability or make the product easier to use. Soaps and detergents often have added colors or perfumes. Most surfactants used today are biodegradable.

Resolved Question: Is this acidity or something else?
Hi All,
I am 30 yrs old male (not yet married)...
For the past several years (atleast 4 years) I have developed a kind of tiredness/drowsiness/heaviness of head/chest pain/chest tightness/irritation etc.. during daytime (full day)
I went to General doctor and specialist doctors like ENT, EYE,BRAIN,HEART,SKIN speacialist doctors in the past one year and to surprise all these reports were completely normal including all kinds of blood reports..
Finally the heart specialist told me that the chest pain is due to acidity and I should avoid aciditic food for 3 months....
I then went to Gastro doctor and he did one endoscopy and said that I have irritation in stomach but NO ulcer is there.
I saw alkaline diet thru internet and tried it for one month and I lost around 8kgs in one month(mostly eating raw green vegetables and little rice)
I feel better now and the tiredness has reduced by around 20% ONLY and obviously I cannot sustain on eating vegetables all the time...so I started on my normal diet...
still 80% of all my problems (chest pain/chest tighness/heavy head/tiredness/low level of energy/stomach irritation/mood swings etc..
any advise on what is to be done will be greatly appreciated..as I don't know what to do now...
Voting Question: what food can increase my internal alkalinity.?
I'm a mother of a pretty little girl and for my next baby, I would like it to be a boy.
I've read in one article that in order to have a greater possibility of conceiving a baby boy, a woman should monitor her pH for levels of acidity and alkalinity. Woman who wants to conceive a boy should have higher alkaline within 5 days of fertility. Can you give me a list of better foods (not supplement) that can increase my alkalinity. Thanks in advance.
Resolved Question: What crops/fruit/veg can be grown in alkaline soil?
I have to find which crops/fruit/vegetables grow best in acidic and alkaline soil. I have plenty for acidic soil but I need some alkaline soil foods, thanks for your help.
By the way, I do not need ANY plants. Thanks. =)
Resolved Question: Correct your PH balance in your body and lose weight!!!!?
I tried this one time (eating mostly alkaline foods) and lost a bunch. I didn't stay healthy after a severe depression and didn't take care of myself for a long time so I stopped but I'm gonna give it another go.
Is there anyone else that has tried this "diet" and if so, what was your experience?
Thanks for any input!
I don't mean excluding acid foods, only stay away from to much of it which I think a lot of us don't do. I agree that everyone needs to be careful about this and I don't want anyone to think I encourage anything hazarodus to our help. Thanks everyone for your input and valuable info!
Resolved Question: I am looking for some support in the transition from a SAD to a raw vegan diet for my family. Any advice?
Last year my mother was diagnosed with bladder cancer. She already has diabetes and MS. The thought of any of her ailments being inherited to me or any of my four children was terrifying.
I did much research, and finally found something that truly made sense to me. RAW food. I have been enjoying the benefits from it for some time, and am now enjoying living with alkaline blood. My husband is mostly raw, and loves everything I prepare. He still enjoys eating cooked food, dairy and occasionally meat, but 70% of his diet is raw.
My children, ranging from 7-16years are "grossed out" by it. With encouragement, they are consuming less pasteurized dairy products, and eating more greens.
Does anyone know of any steps I can take to further encourage their participation in this lifestyle that has me feeling so good?
Some of you will inevitably attack raw vegan food... but know this... this diet has cured me of gum disease, chronic acne, cluster headaches and high blood pressure... so whatever your argument, make it good... because unless you have been raw, you couldn't possibly know the true benefits of it.
Resolved Question: Would eating a high alkaline diet within a week be beneficial?
Just want to see whether eating high in alkaline food and drink will make me feel better in a work; increase my fitness slightly etc
Voting Question: Which Chemistry science project?
I have a science project (8th grade) due on December 19th about chemistry and i have to choose an idea (NOTE: this is not a science fair). The project must be two pages of information, typed, size 12 font, and single spaced. I think i have narrowed it down to two ideas, and i need your help choosing which one. And so, here are my ideas:
1) Acids and Alkalis -- which is about testing foods to see if they are more acidic or more alkaline.
2) fire extinguishers -- how they work and what gasses they emit
Please let me know
a) if you think i could write 2 pages or if it will just run out of ideas
b) do you think it is interesting
c) any experience with either of these projects.
THANK YOU so much! Any help is greatly appreciated!
Resolved Question: What is wrong with me? Hypothyroidism, Pituitary hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's? Added ranges for results.?
I'm 19, about 5 feet tall, 116 lbs. African-American.
History: Most of the symptoms I have I've had for years, but being raised in a family that pushed me to “just deal with it” whenever I complained about feeling sick I was forced to push myself. I'm in a much better situation, but since I've been here my health has consistently been declining and I've developed anxiety which keeps getting worse. Life before this year was pretty close to unbearably stressful including frequent sporadic bouts of homelessness all throughout my life as well as other traumatic events. I thought maybe it could be ptsd or GAD, but the anxiety just began now that I'm removed from the stressful situation and placed into a stable one, same with my body pretty much breaking down. Through-out my developmental years I abused a variety of pills (Been clean for awhile.) as well as ingesting mass amounts of soy (vegetarian for eight years) and starting birth control at 14. Family has a history of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, addiction. Possibly a history of hypothyroid, but only one family member is officially diagnosed ,four people total with parallel symptoms though.
Symptoms including, but not limited to: Dry, brittle hair & scalp, hair loss, dry skin, several different kinds of recurring headaches (center of head between ears mostly), weight fluctuationss ,Hirsutism, irregular periods, infertility, acne, visual disturbances (three dots in a triangular formation), bleeding gums, tooth decay, sporadic dizziness, loss of motor control, slurred speech, fevers (past 2 month), menstrual irregularities, infertility, sinuses hurt constantly throughout ears and face, several serious sinus infections over the years, "lump stuck in throat” feeling, swelling under her chin sometimes, heartburn, stabbing chest pains (really painful almost incapacitating), heart palpitations, back & shoulder pain (excruciating, chronic), trouble digesting food, no appetite, possible gall bladder problems, daily nausea, muscle weakness, joint pain, chronic yeast infections over the years (generally very prone to infection), "tingling" in limbs kind of like they fell asleep but more intense of a pins & needles feeling, lack of energy, shortness of breath., lump on her arm about a centimeter or so high, what feels like carpal tunnel, insomnia, serious anxiety. Temperature. is very low in the morning and high at night. She's extremely sensitive to cold, sensitive to light(sometimes it causes her to vomit or pass out)
We're worried that the ranges of normality might be off considering she's a pretty tiny person and i guess wouldn't have the same range of normality as someone who is of average height and weight or someone that hasn't been on birth control on and off since they were 14
Theories have been put forth that it could be either depression in general (it absolutely isn't), 1.pituitary or secondary hypothyroid, 2.Adrenal failure originating in the pituitary gland( due to what seems like bouncing between hyperthyroid and hypothyroid) 3. Leukemia (due to my wbc being on the high end and my rbc being on the low end) or some Autoimmune disease (due to my lymphocyte count being on the high end and my monocyte count being on the low end)
Doctors are just pretty much refusing to listen to her tell them her symptoms or perform tests, especially if they know her history. Or they tell her it's anxiety or depression because her results are “within range”.
Here are a lot of test results, if you can make any sense out of them I'd really appreciate it:

I forgot to clarify a few things. The tooth decay is recent, most of the enamel on my teeth is gone. I don't have insurance at all. I can't work and I can't go to school. And I'm no longer a vegetarian as of one year ago.
Also, I've been all over the vitamins situation. All kinds of D, B, B12, A and some other multi as well as iron supplements.
Not diabetic. Been having trouble feeling my peehole and trouble peeing.

Resolved Question: Why do pH diets so often contradict each other?
My urine is very acid and I would like to make it more alkaline. I have seen various lists of foods that apparently result in either increased acidity or alkalinity. However, sometimes they totally contradict each other. For instance, milk and olive oil appear as alkaline in one list and acid in the other. Have the authors of these lists simply got it wrong - or is it due to another factor, such as the quality of the product?

Resolved Question: Desperate, someone answers this to save my life?
21, male, 220, 6'2
I am going out of my mind. Ever since June 6th I had some gin after a couple heavy nights of drinking, it was the first time I ever drank gin. I got short of breath, stopped, the next day I had a tickle in my throat.
Its been there for 3 months. Within the first month, I had the tickle and a thick white/yellow coated tongue and diarrhea. I was constantly short of breath.
About July 28thish, I developed constant burping. I burp when I sit up, when I move or when I sit down. It only stops when I lay down, then my stomach sometimes gurgles like its got excessive gas. The burps don't burn, they don't hurt, I don't burp up food, acid or liquid, they are just normal air burps (NOTE: I had the throat tickle/irritation LONG before the burping, and the burping could be due to all the tests I've had throughout that month).
I've had an EKG, Chest X-Ray, anti-biotic trial, antacid/H2 blocker/PPI trial, liver/gallbladder ultrasound, endoscopy, laryngoscopy, pulmonary lung function tests (spirometer/flowmeter), allergy medicine (Clarinex) trial, barium swallow. Everything was negative, only the endoscopy found a small 3-4 cm sliding hiatal hernia, which is nothing they said and most people have them. There was no inflammation or irritation seen. The hernia was so small it was even missed on the barium swallow (btw I had them use EXTRA barium, they saw NO reflux).
I am sick and tired of people telling me "reflux reflux reflux"....I know what reflux is, it's not a disease. I became so obsessed I researched it to the bone and found out that "REFLUX DISEASE" is a pharmaceutical hoax, it's basically your body being too acidic. An alkaline diet will cure it. Your sphincter does not weaken. You have 3 sphincters in your entire body, upper, lower, and rectal. Your rectal sphincter doesn't all of a sudden stop functioning (know anyone who walks around with their asshole wide open, or has "transient anal relaxation"?).
Also, the ENT said that if I was refluxing up to my throat he would be able to see it, since I had the irritation 24/7. He saw no irritation, no inflammation, and went all the way down to the vocal cords, did the "eeeeeeee" thing to look at the trachea, saw nothing, and he's a VERY good ENT (expensive).
I am at my wits end, I do not know what this is. I have been evaluated for almost everything. I even recently had a thyroid ultrasound and all they could find in the thyroid was "hypovascularism" which is just a lot of blood vessels.
My throat has been examined by tons of doctors, including the ENT and even a traditional chinese medicine woman and all have said that it is fine, even though I think it's a bit red.
I've even tried ativan, thinking it's pscyhological, and its made me more positive about it but hasn't cured my symptoms.
I need help....if you're going to presume "GERD", don't post here. If you're going to suggest allergies, please realize that I was out of the house when it felt worse today. If you're going to suggest asthma, please realize I've been checked for that. Yes i've had blood tests for my liver and thyroid. No I don't live near polluted areas, no I have not had trauma anywhere on my body. I have not had any surgeries, I have no past medical problems.
My symptoms are a tickle in the throat that is sometimes excruciating, constant throat dryness, salivating a lot, some heart palpitations...better in the morning, better when lieing down...better while eating and after eating. No I don't have an ulcer, I've had an endoscopy. It hurts to take a deep breath and gets tight when I try to take a full one. I've had heart palpitations at some point. I get a sensation like I need to burp but I can't. I get bloating, but these burps/bloating are new and happaned after I was trialed on stomach meds and had the endoscopy.
I am on the verge of contemplating suicide, call it weak if you want, idc. I'm sick of feeling like this and contemplating what it would be like to feel normal again. I am sick of this, sick to death of it.....hopefully one of you out there can help me, I doubt it, but I'm rolling the dice in hope that you can. Don't tell me I could have it worse, i'd rather have cancer than this or lose a limb, and I'm dead serious.
I just want this to stop...to go back in time....
I've tried bland foods for a month, it did nothing but make me feel even more miserable.
Food does not affect me. I can eat a huge italian meal with no problems at all and no "heartburn", I don't even get heartburn. I've tried the diet, doesn't work.
I'm on my 8th doctor, not sure if the 9th will say anything different. ER visits haven't helped much either.
Resolved Question: is cow milk acidic or alkaline food?
Resolved Question: How dangerous are battery leaks?
hello people,
so how dangerous are battery leaks?
i'm just really worried. i bring a graphing calculator to school and i'm just really afraid that if the battery leaks it can somehow get into my food. (i know it's probably unlikely, but it could happen). so...
what happens if the battery (or batteries) leak, and the leak gets onto my food, and i eat it and only realize what happened later when it's too late to seek medical help. what will the battery do to my body? how toxic is it? these are duracell AAA alkaline batteries.
and also i bring my Cd player to school, and it has Panasonic Super Heavy Duty AA batteries. what happens if those leak and get ingested?
And also, what happens if i accidentally swallow a battery, or like a part of it?
and are all types batteries equally toxic?
do batteries have expiration dates? what if they're expired?
sorry...i'm just really paranoid, and i'm so scared.
thanks in advance for your answers
thanks ralph.
obviously i'm not gonna put my battery in a bag of cherios. but what if, say my calculator is in the same bag as my box of cherios, and the battery leaks through the the box and into my cherios?
Thanks Ralf.
obviously i'm not gonna put my battery in a bag of cherios. but what if i keep my calculator in the same bag that i keep my box of cherios. what if the battery leaks through the box and into my cherios? i'm so worried.
sorry i have two of the same details. i spelled your name wrong in the first one.

Resolved Question: How do I keep my system alkaline without starving?
Starting today, I have to keep my urine/digestive system alkaline for a week, for health reasons. I have a list of foods that will help me do that, and a list of foods to avoid, as they would increase the acidity of my urine.
However, most of the foods that I should be eating are fruits and vegetables. Most dairy products (except milk) and meat are forbidden, as are pasta, rice, grains, legumes, refined sugar, etc....
How am I supposed to survive on this? I know that consuming baking soda and calcium/magnesium will make my urine more alkaline; does this mean that I could eat some bread or turkey and then take some Tums to sort of cancel out the acidity of the other foods? Or do I have to strictly avoid acid-forming foods all together? I love fruits and vegetables, but in order to sustain myself on them, I have to eat them pretty frequently (but since I cannot eat while I'm working, and I have a 5+ hour shift tonight I can't do that). I hate tofu, so that's not an option...
Has anyone been successful in sustaining themselves on an alkaline-forming diet and would be willing to share some secrets as to how to do so?
Resolved Question: Pond water is foamy and tinted brown. Any ideas?
I have a 1200 gal pond with 11- 5 inch koi in it. I have a filter system that processes 3000 gph with waterfall with 5 layers of media (sq ft I would guess 20 sq ft) and a 360gph fountain with filter(1/2 sq ft) that runs 10 hours a day. You can see bacteria living on everything. I have stones but only on one side down to the shelf (24 inch from water surface). Nothing on any of the bottems. I have 20% plant coverage and a very small amount of underwater plants. I feed the fish 2x a day 2 tablespoons of koi food which they gobble up in 2 mins flat. I have the start of string algae which I know a small amount is good. The liner is almost completely covered with natural formation. I have bio bacteria in it that is 3 weeks old. I have done a 60% water change already because of foam and that worked for 2 days only. There is no oil slicks and my water is a slightly cloudy tea color. There is no run off from landscaping (had that problem this spring and fixed it). The watere has never remained clear for long even prior to the fish. We have well water. We live in the country on a hill with wind and 2-3 times a day I skim the pond with a net. My plants have clay dirt in them with coffee filters agains all holes so it does not run out. the pond has lots of frogs that visit or camp out. There isn't any trees around. Closes one is 25 feet away. Nitrate is "0". Nitrite is "0". Hardness is "very soft". Alkalinity is "high". pH is"alkaline". Short of adding a skimmer I'm not sure what else to try to remove the foam and the color. Any advise from pond owners would be welcomed. I adore my fish and want to keep them safe so please HELP!
I have also changed the food to a high quality koi food.
Resolved Question: If meat is essential to humans, then why....?
Sure, we can digest meat. But that dosen't mean it is good for us. Look at all the diseases that meat causes us like cardiovascular diseases and different types of cancer. If we are "predators", and therefore carnivores, then why:
1) Why do carnivores have an intestinal tracts that are 3 to 6 times their body length, when ours is 10 to 12 times out body length. If you ask me, that more closely resembles the ratio of an herbivores intestinal tract.
2) Why don't carnivores require fiber to move food through their digestive tract, but we do? Herbivores require fiber too, and it's found in plants and grains. They need it to move food through their long intestinal tracts, as do we.
3) Why do carnivores have saliva that is acidic to help pre-digest meat, when we have alkaline saliva, like herbivores?
4) Why don't we have claws or sharp teeth? Our teeth resemble herbivores teeth since they are more flat and better suited for grinding grains, fruits, and vegetables.
5) Why are our intestines more similar to herbivores? Carnivores have intestines that are short and pipe-like so meat can pass through quickly. Ours, however, are very long and pocketed like herbivores who need more time to digest all of the nutrients in the plants they consume.
I know a lot of you are going to say we are omnivores. But if we are omnivores, then why does meat rot in our intestines? Why does animal fat clog up our arteries and colon? If we are omnivores, then why can't we digest meat like carnivores can?
NOTE: This is not meant to be a "rant". I really want to know why people think these things and I want to see what evidence they can bring to prove me wrong. This is a discussion. So please, enlighten me! =]
Hellinore_rigby:
"The only other thing I'd add to your points is the fact that humans have to cook meat in order to eat it. Otherwise, it's sickness for certain. If humans are SO adept at eating it, there would be no need. It could be consumed in a way identical to animals, no?"
:-)
Hmm..good point. I never thought of that. =)
Timmy: I'm aware that meat has protein, zinc, and iron and stuff in it. But you're not answering my question. If we are omnivores/carnivores, then why can't we digest meat like they can?
Sweety: I'm very glad you guys are being respectful. I'm trying to be respectful too.
And I wouldn't say that all of us click "Report Abuse" when somebody says something that is against our beliefs. Personally, I only click "Report Abuse" when somebody says something offensive or profane....I'm completley open to discussion.
Kurvantidevidasi: I'm aware of those facts...but what does that have to do with us being herbivores/omnivores/carnivores? =/
Whoever is giving everybody a thumbs down needs to stop. You people are only doing that because other people don't agree with your beliefs, so stop.
Mark K: Wait....so you're saying that if it wasn't for meat, we would still be swinging around in trees? I'm sorry, but I don't think meat is what made us evolve....just nature.
Troll’s a No Life Loser: No, I am not quoting anything. Why would you think that?
I think you bring up a good point that eating meat is a choice. And I agree with you that not all meat needs to be cooked, but since it has been manipulated by humans, we need to cook it to kill bacteria. And it is definitely true that we can go back and forth all day! I believe you to some degree in saying that we are omnivores, but can we be considered omnivores simply because we can digest meat? Can’t all herbivores digest animal flesh/tissues to some degree?
Drum Wizard: I think you are right. A lot of the people that I try to discuss vegetarianism with do not want to be reached, even if the logic is there. Way to remind me that I'm wasting my time! =]
Troll's: "Omnivores are very dissimilar to other omnivores even. The similarities between a grizzly bear and a woodpecker are few. The similarities between a pig and a wasp are few"
Good point. I guess that means that herbivores that can digest meat are technically omnivores too?
Troll's: Haha. I obviously need to go back to biology class and learn what the difference is.
Resolved Question: What is the best Alkaline food cooking recipe book?
Resolved Question: What is the risk of nitrosamines forming if Quaternary Amides, DEAs,TEAs,MEAs if they contact?
There is this dish washing soap called "Ecover", which is supposed to be 100% natural and harmless; but contains a preservative called Bronopol; which can react under alkaline conditions to release nitrogen that can create nitrosamines with amines. When people use this, it should be expected that they would also use an alkaline soap with DEA, or TEA shortly(especially if it's the kitchen soap); and I've tried it and it still leaves a bit of soapy residue from hands but not dishes; just like hand soap does. Bronopol is also found in a line of Suave naturals shampoo; and it would be expected that body wash used at the same time would also be alkaline and have amines.
So would enough nitrosamines to be harmful be formed from contact residues from skin? What about Quaternary Amides like the ones found in Holy Cow degreaser? And what about hair; like say using a shampoo with Bronopol and then the next day using one with Quats or DEAs(and the reverse)? And compared to food reaction.
Resolved Question: Is Coffee acidic?
Hi all,
I was just wondering, is Coffee fairly high in acid content, or is it an alkaline?
I would like to try to shift my body PH, because currently I am an Acid magnet (Fast Food, Soda, Dairy, and lots and lots of Coffee)
Just to let you know:
- I currently drink upwards of 5 cups of coffee in a day.
- I generally don't get chance to pack a lunch in the morning and end up either eating a sandwich at the local deli, or hitting a fast food place.
Resolved Question: Before getting pregnant?
This is a two part question:
Is it wrong to try to "pick" the sex of your baby? (I've been reading about it and it's not medical, it's more like sex positions and timing of intercourse and what foods make your vagina acidic or alkaline, acidic for girls and alkaline for boys)
&
Has anyone done it and has it worked for you and what method did you use? (Shettles method, etc)
And for anyone out there with kids can you look at this chart and tell me if it is correct for you. I did it based on my mothers age and months of conception for myself and two sisters and it was completely correct! Interesting!
http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/ttc-tools/chinese-conception-chart.htm
I know the sperm determines the sex, these guides are how to provide the best environment for the y or x sperm, also when you ovulate and have sex is a pretty big factor, considering the boy sperm die faster, so therfore if you want a boy you should have sex the day you ovulate, or within 24 hours.
Resolved Question: How to tip the scales in our favor of having a boy?
I have a beautiful little girl and my husband and I are ready to have number two. We are only planning on having two kids and I have read that if your body is an alkaline environment you can increase your chances of having a boy. How do I do this? Are there certain foods I need to eat? If we are blessed with another girl that would be wonderful but we wouldn't mind trying to have one of each. Any advice would help. Thanks!
Resolved Question: what foods would i have to eat to reduce the acid levels?
in my body,ie what foods have a high alkaline content
Resolved Question: Does anyone know how to contact this great male movie star that's has cancer & thanking people who's praying
for her husband? I think this is important - Have you heard that there's salad that can reverse cancer? Is it Japanese salad and high alkaline food like leafy vegetables and zero meat? Is it also important to drink high alkaline water with a 9.5pH and not drink tap water?
Resolved Question: how much can your bodys pH go up after consuming only alkaline foods for 24 hours?
What do you think is a reasonable increase number for this situation?
Resolved Question: This is my biology experiment, is it reasonable? is there anything that needs change?
"What effects will alkaline foods have on pH levels"?
Hypothesis: If you consume only alkaline foods for 24 hours, your pH will decrease because the alkaline foods nuetralize the bodys acid and toxic levels.
Conclusion: The pH levels dropped after consuming only alkaline foods for 24 hours.
Well what do you think? Are these lab statements reasonable? does it sound like a complete elementary school experimtnt?
Resolved Question: I think I'm too alkaline, are tomatoes acidifying?
I have lyme disease and co-infecting viruses, and my doctor wants me to watch my urine pH to make sure I don't get too alkaline or acidic, because that means the viruses are out on control? It confuses me. He told me if I'm too alkaline to drink tomato juice, and if I'm too acidic drink green veggie juice. My first morning urination was close to an 8 on the pH scale! So I looked it up and I guess I have to make my urine more acidic, but when I looked at the food charts, tomatoes are on the alkaline side! I'm so confused!
Resolved Question: My lips peels when in contact with liquid. Why does this happen? The skin tissue in my mouth does this too,?
Why does this happen? The skin tissue in my mouth does this too, sloughing of oral tissues which is due to toothpaste and/or mouthwash.
I changed(constantly) the toothpaste, and mouthwash. I think I found that problem but still, my lips comes raw and comes off..
It's pretty bad, I went to dentist, knowing that it'll happen. While they were cleaning it, and finished, said I can rinse mouth out, and they walked away and the rawness where I can wipe it off was kinda embarressing, no one seen me wipe it off, but the person cleaning mouth prolly was like, wow raw looking whiteness!
Know what causes this?
I don't really have dry lips, I put something on it all the time. I used many many many things, even coconut oil, olive, etc. All does the samething.. So, no dry lips.. I can not even put anything on and it does it...
Could it be that my saliva is too acidic and I need to eat more foods higher in alkaline? I ordered a pH tester strips, I'll see how it reads..
Resolved Question: help with body ph?
ok lemons and apple cider vinegar are NOT acidic..they leave an alkaline ash in your body once digested and are not acidic. so please do not tell me to stop eating lemons.
so here is my question again. I have been eating only fruit and veggies for 7 months. no processed foods, no cooked foods, no grains ..nothing but fresh fruit and veggies. I am trying to get my body ph to 7.0 or higher.because that is where it is suposed to be for a healthy body. I get a spike right after lunch to about 7.0 for the urine test but my saliva remains at 6.0 all day long. I am drinking only spring water and oxyginated water. Please do not tell me that I am eating acidic foods because lemons and apple cider are NOT acidic. they leave an alkaline ash in the body. look up alkaline and acidic foods ....i eat one lemon a day and my veggies are a salad with lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. I have a wonderful life and am under no stress...please help...
Resolved Question: What foods should I eat to make my body more alkaline?
Resolved Question: Describe the digestion of starch in human (8 marks) is my answer correct?
Argh revision!!
Food is masticated in the buccal cavity which increases its surface area. At the same time saliva containing the enzyme amylase is secreated. The amylase begins to hydrolyse the polysaccharide starch into the disaccharide maltose. The bolus then travels down the oesophagus into the stomach where the acidid gastric juices denature the amylase and cease digestion of starch. Once liquidised the acidic chyme is squirted into the duodenum where alkaline bile neutralises the acidic chyme. Amylase is again secreted, this time from the walls of the duodenum and the remaining starch is hydrolysed into maltose. The now watery chyle travels to the Illeum where maltase hydrolyses the maltose into the monosaccharide glucose which then diffuses across the villi of the small intestine and into the blood stream.
I have onlu just revised this and i bet i forget it all!!
Still have to do
Respiration and gas exchange
The heart
The kidneys
The Nervous system
and Maths
Thank you Ella - hadn't remembered that Amylase is produced in the Pancreas, that should stick in my mind now, thanks :)
