Open Question: Is Adderall suitable for treating depression, and how can I coax my doctor to put me on it?
I had been on Zoloft and Trileptal, but I got a deadly electrolyte imbalance. Also, along w/ the electrolyte/salt imbalance i went nuts. I was EXTREMELY paranoid as well. I deleted some friends from my facebook and was afraid kids at school were plotting against me. I accused my mother of trying to poison me (which was not true)! My psychiatrist (who falls asleep when i talk to him and has a smelly, moldy office) said it was a "manic episode" and put me on lithium. My school psychiatrist and neurologist said just stay away from those meds, b/c i had a bad reaction to them (and this episode would not have occurred under natural conditions). Also, the school psychiatrist thought the other psychiatrist was a moron for saying i had a "manic episode" caused by bipolar disorder. btw: i am getting a new psychiatrist. The neurologist said years ago that i probably have ADD as well (i have always had a "listening problem" and i can never complete anything i start). I also have tics, which i have been taking Haldol for for almost 10 years. i have always had trouble losing weight, no matter how healthy/much i eat or how much i exercise. To make matters worse, the lithium has caused me to gain like 15 lbs, and i am totally disgusted by that. My $200 juicy couture pinstripe jeans don't even fit over my blubbery thighs anymore! I am only 17 years old, and i am a size 8 (and only 5'4). I want to look cute and sexii, but i feel i cant b/c of my size. I have been told (by a doctor and a few other ppl) that i probably have insulin resistance (and lithium causes that too). Nevertheless, if i cut my portion size not only will i probably not lose too much weight, but my metabolism will slow down; therefore i want the doctor to perscribe me Adderall. I can never concentrate on school work anyways, and all i do is goof off on facebook and the internet when i get home. In school, when we are asked to start classwork all i do is chit chat w/ other ppl or daydream. I heard it also helps depression, but i am afraid to go on it b/c of what happened w/ the other medications. Also, i have tics so i dunno if the Adderall will exacerbate that. Ultimately, the weight loss caused by Adderall will make me feel better about myself and that wil help cure my depression in itself (cuz i OBSESS over my weight). How the hell can i persuade my new psychiatrist to put me on this miracle amphedamine drug?

other girls at school eat soo much more than i do (and they eat gigantic bolognea sandwiches on white bread w/ 3 greasy cookies) while i am eating salad w/ fat free macrobiotic dressing covered w/ chickpeas.

Okay, so I've been 121 or 122 pounds for like the last three years. And I'm 18. My height is 5'8". So from around 15 to now, I've been between 120-125 pounds. I'm really thin. And it doesn't seem like anything has changed.
The thing is that I eat a lot. I don't really pay attention to what I eat and I probably eat more unhealthy food than healthy food only because my family doesn't really buy very healthy food.
The only explanation I can come up with for this was that when I switched to Adderall at the age of 14, I went from 130 pounds to 103 pounds. It caused appetite loss. Before 8th grade ended, I got back on Concerta.
So I've given a little background. What's the best way for me to way at least 135 (preferably 144 pounds) without eating junk food all the time? Maybe I should workout more. I'm trying to workout three times a week, but it's only been recently that I've been getting myself to exercise more than once or twice a week. I guess I just don't know what to do. How bad is weighing 122 pounds for an 18-year-old that is 5'8"?

Hi.. I'll start off by saying that I find myself heading down a dangerous path of self-destruction, not to mention self-starvation, lol. I am looking to change this before it gets out of hand, though. However, I'd appreciate it if those of you who honestly do not know what you're talking about, would kindly find another question to blindly answer. Alright, now I'll be going into a lot of detail, so that you can follow along as well as possible - It is IMPORTANT that I know this.
Okay, so I've been taking adderall on a regular basis for the past month... It wasn't long, though, before I was abusing my dose. I would skip a few days, just so that I could pop 2.. which evolved into 3.. and that eventually evolved into ingesting 4 pills in one sitting, each being 30 MG's. Either way, the point is that I would have no desire to eat while under the influence of adderall, and so I obviously didn't. After time, I began to lose weight, and I even started to create a pattern of eating just once a day.
However, this is all very recent - within the past week or so - and I'm pretty certain that I'll have no problems with maintaining a normal diet, if worse comes to worse. Here's the thing, though... I ended up losing about 90% of what you'd call a "double chin" - All within the same week. I weighed about 160 pounds before the weight loss, at a rather small 5'4 - Male.
Now, I've been brought down to a little over 150 pounds, although I'm not sure of my exact weight and I'm sure it's equal to or less than 155 pounds. Either way, I know that this is not healthy, but I love the dramatic results it's been giving me. The funny thing is, I didn't start abusing the adderall to lose weight - This developing illness came along with my recreational use, and I'm not sure if I like it a little too much.
I'll get to the point now, though.. What I plan to start doing, is refrain from taking adderall altogether, and force myself to sleep at night, so that my body has plenty of time to recuperate. This way, I can wake up and have a hearty breakfast with a glass of milk or two, just to jump-start my metabolism and get it running nice and fast. However, for the rest of the day, my meals will only consist of water, milk, apples, carrots, grapes, etc.
Basically, all I want to know is whether or not I can refrain from getting sick by sticking to this routine... Of course, plenty of working out and staying away from the fast foods and soda/other sugary products will be involved to ensure that added element of healthy living.
Please do not sugar coat your answer for me, just inform me. I'm not going to take your answer into any consideration, should it entail anything having to do with you lecturing me about how I should be eating three meals a day and whatnot. I am very aware of the fact that your body enters starvation mode in an attempt to keep you from crossing over to a more fatal condition, and I suppose that what I REALLY would like to know is whether or not this new routine that I've mentioned above will prevent that from happening, while still being able to tone up and keep the body fat away.
In other words, if I eat when I wake up, have a glass of milk or two, and feed off of fresh fruits and vegetables / water and milk for the rest of the day, will I put that weight back on when I eat more than just that one meal a day, after I'm right where I need to be (as far as my physical appearance) ??

I have been on Adderall XR 20 mg every day for my ADHD. I have lost around 10 lbs in the first 2-3 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this? Before anyone starts preaching...I am a nurse. I see patients with ADD/ADHD all the time. I know it is not intended for weight loss, and I know about the DEA and how it's illegal to mis-use the drug. I am on it for my ADHD and know that weight loss is a common side effect. I know it's 'normal' in a sense to lose a bit of weight, which usually returns once you stop the medication. I am not seeking it as a weight loss aid. This post is ONLY to hear others' experience with it.

I am 18, 6'2, and 190 pds. I looked up some of the symptoms online. Does it sound like I have diabetes? I urinate either 2-4 times a day, vision in right eye has always been slightly blurry ever since i was a young child, hunger does not come vigorously, i get hungry a lot though due to adderall making me lose my appetite. Thirst comes normally, more at night. I started exercising after a long period of not doing so just the other week, though my diet is not that great (the reason i put this is because one of the symptoms is weight loss), and as for fatigue and irritability go, my mood is almost always the same .

I started taking Provigil to help with my fatigue and foggy feeling. It hasnt helped much and at 200mg I am still tired and falling asleep on my desk at 2pm . I am considering asking my DR to put me on Adderall or Dexedrine for energy and weight loss. I hate fatigue. I did well on Adipex-P besides some episodes of being very shaky I did get more energy. I am not ADHD (that I know of) But I take several meds that cause drowsiness and have fibro, neuopathy and osteoarthritis.

Is it bad to take Adderall without a prescription? Last night I was going to a school football game with my sister and her friend. We were in the car and I mentioned that I was tired. So when my sister gets out of the car at a gas station my sister's friend (who is a year older that me) tells me to take one of these pills that is like a weight loss pill and it will help me stay awake better (I'm not fat, just for the record, 5'6" and 110 lbs). I didn't think it would be bad because my sister had taken one and so had her friend. The pills worked the way she said they would. They kept me awake late without getting tired and in the morning I weighed myself and I was a few pounds lighter. Then I figured I should probably try to figure out what they gave me. When I took it she told me it was xanax and I had heard of it but didn't know what it was so I figured she was telling the truth. So I was searching the internet today and figured out that it had really been Adderall. I do not plan on taking it again and it was stupid to take it in the first place but was that bad to do? I am a 25 year old female & I have taken Adderall XR 25mg for almost 4 years, but recently switched to Vyvanse 30mg. Lately I’ve been reading articles on how people take adderall to lose weight and to stay focused, even if they don’t have ADD, and that’s what gets me
I take Adderall because I actually have to, just so I can stay at the same level as everyone else when it comes to school. But if they’re taking it to, it’s not fair to me and others who are trying to stay caught up.
Also the whole weight loss thing really pisses me off, yes, adderall helps you lose weight.
But let me say this, from my own experience its embarrassing! You’re never hungry when you take adderall, never! I usually don’t eat much due to the medication, and trust me when I say much. My whole day, all I could eat is a banana and a French fry and be perfectly content!
So please, don’t let this get out of hand. Stop Adderall abuse

I recently started taking Adderall XR 20 mg once a day. However, I don't work mornings on the weekends or on Monday.So on those days, I sleep in a little (maybe until 9 or 10) and on the other weekdays, I am up by 6am. Does the time I take the medication affect how it works for me? And also, I have heard weight loss is an issue. I was wondering if taking something like Slimfast would have a negitive effect? I would like to drink that just because I know it fills me up from prior experience, and I know that It has nutrients in it. I am already on a healthy diet and on a successful exercise program. Resolved Question: Whats the best way to lose weight?
I am 16 years old, 5'6'' athletic Allstar Competition cheerleader. I weight 150 pounds. I look toned, but I feel like I need to lose weight, and fast. Competition season is right around the corner and i wanna look good!
Im skeptical about fast weight loss things, but i would work out along with that. My friend toold me she would give me her adderall (which apparently helps you lose weight) I keep asking my parents for it anyways, since im pretty sure i have ADD...i cant concentrate..ever!
Since I need it anyways, is it a bad idea. Idont think my parents would want me going on it but its not like they would know...they never find out anything. So this would kill 2 birds w/ one stone help with me concentrating & help me lose weight.
I only need to get down to 130 or 135, and i would look great. How long will this take if im on adderall?
